Hi friends!
I am happy to announce that my book of poems “Novena to Loss” was just released from Moonpath Press (Newport, Oregon) and is available on-line from Barnes and Nobles and ThriftBooks, and of course from your favorite brick and mortar bookstore (just ask them to order it for you, and thankyou!).
The collection won Honorable Mention in the press’ 2025 Sally Albiso Award contest and has been lovingly prepped for publication by the press’ Managing Editor Lana Hechtman Ayers. Thomas A. Thomas, the managing editor, created the lovely cover. My friend Cody gifted me this beautiful website.
Those of you who know me from my green building consultancy and instruction career, were very likely to meet my husband John, who supported my work in such big ways. In March of 2022, he died suddenly of cancer we didn’t even know he had (it was the time of Covid, when health care suffered mightily). This book of poems commemorates the process of losing him, in turn learning so much about grief and love.
Here’s a little taste from the book:
Greetings From the Sky
A branch cracked ten feet to my right.
A young hawk, hopefully less surprised than I,
rode it down to the ground, sorted itself,
flew off.
A feather floated to the ground --
John saying Hi,
the way he does.
